This is a group for encouragement to those who are out of work or underemployed. Its purpose is to help one another to not give up, make connections, and actually land jobs that are meaningful and fit with our calling.

I have recently started a new position but the job is so very stressful that at times I feel like screaming. I feel like I jumped in with both feet. I wonder if this is God's will for me. I would…Continue

Comment by John Barbour on May 21, 2012 at 5:56pm I am definitely one of what they call discouraged workers. Unemployed 4 years now and getting old ( 59). Good news. One of my prodigals came home to Christ and has been clean from alcohol for over two weeks. Bad news, helping her get treatment for alcoholism has put me even more under. She also eats up a lot of my supplements for her underlying nervous disorder - runs in the family.
There doesn't seem to be alot of activity in this group. Probably we're all busy looking for work, starting businesses etc. Hopefully, this can be a place of encouragement. We'll I've looked for work I've started my own business. I am needing to find peple who want to look at what I do. I figure I might as well be doing something while I'm looking for something.....does that make sense. I am loving what I do and want to share it with others. I would like to create a strong tema of Christian leaders in the marketplace. I think as we move through this economy we have to be ready to "create our own economic stimulus and not rely on the government. Keep the faith in what God has called you to do and be open to looking at other opportunities. Just finished a book: Its Your Time by Joel Osteen. Great encouragement! You all have a great blessed day.
I'm excited. I just joined this group. I'm kind of looking for work while I start my own buisness. History in America shows that small business and entreprenuers are the ones who change America and keep America moving. Have any one in this group considered starting something on their own? Just curious. I love networking and finding out what others are doing or are looking for. So, lets share ideas and encourage one another. I want to use my work/business to minister to others and give to the Kingdom.

Comment by Jeri Sue Wilson on August 10, 2011 at 5:21pm As of today, 8/10, it has been 2 months since I was released from my job. I had been a nanny for a family since the end of last Aug for a family whose children had been in daycare before that. It wasn't anything I did, it was a decision my employers made to return their children to daycare, that having them home wasn't working for them. A couple of friends told me the way I was released was very much a corporate thing and both parents work in the corporate world. They told me at the end of the work day on a Friday their decision and that that day was my last, with 1 week's severance! No 2 weeks notice! It made me question my abilities as a nanny for a while, but friends have reassured me and a couple of interviews have boosted my confidence.
I am still looking for work, either as a nanny once again, but not using this last family as a reference; or possibly in the area of non-medical home health care for the elderly; even in the arena of hospitality as I have a heart for missions and having a guest house for missionaries to come for a time of rest/relaxation.
Am doing the unemployment thing, but really need a job. Please pray for wisdom, clarity, guidance in what God would have me doing. Whatever I do I plan to do for the glory of God, to be HIS light and salt in the world. Thanks!!!
