Steps to Forgiveness and Finding Joy

Step four:  Healing wounds.   Acts 10:38, “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”  When you are in need of healing, whether it’s spiritual, physical or emotional, the devil is behind it.  If you are hurting from wounds sustained by the friendly fire of the church you are in need of healing and you’re oppressed by the devil.  This is where the…See More

How to move from being Tormented by Tragedy to being Touched by Tagedy

I just recently officiated a funeral that was unfortunately a very high profile suicide. It was on every local news station in our region. It was first reported as a homicide, but later found out to be a suicide. This person was only 52 years old and just couldn't overcome all the hurts that wrecked his emotional being. This person was the youngest of nine siblings, all of which were still alive. The beautiful parents, who were in their nineties, were both still alive. The reality was that the…See More

"Run to Win" Overcoming Valleys of Weeping

The Apostle Paul understood the dedication athletes needed to have  in order to compete and win. Paul used many athletic references when he wrote his letters to the churches. He knew the churches would identify with the effort the athletes needed to put forth in order to win.  He compared athletic training to the effort we need to put forth to live out our Christian walk and receive the final reward of eternal life with Jesus Christ in the presence of God.     1Cor. 9:24-27 gives us a great…See More

Has Your Heart Been Wounded

You may be wounded, and feel like you are broken beyond repair.  Like the sons of Korah, something happened to you that drastically changed your life and dropped you into a Valley of Weeping and you can’t seem to find your way out.  You may have been wounded by the church or another member of the body of Christ.  I have also been wounded by the church and those wounds run deep.  Those wounds can take us to a place where we stay away from fellow-shipping with other believers because it…See More

Finding joy in your valleys of weeping

Sometimes in life we face difficult times. Sometimes those times or valley seasons come along even though we did nothing to cause them. Those are the “Why me” valleys of weeping.
