Christians and the Movies

Posted on June 1, 2011 at 11:00am 0 Comments

Christians are spending millions of dollars at the box office, on video rentals, and video disc movie collections. In moments of weakness, many believers unwittingly subject themselves and their families to harmful philosophies in movies that can do nothing but discourage them from “taking every thought captive” for the advancement of the kingdom. Watching movies always requires discernment, and that’s just what Movieology is trying to help Christians with now. With their weekly reviews and…

Passover, Easter, Firstfruits, and the 144,000

Posted on April 17, 2011 at 1:32pm 0 Comments

Mention the 144,000 of Revelation and most American Christians will think of 144,000 end-time evangelists in some end-time scenario. Hal Lindsey described them as “144,000 Jewish Billy Grahams” and Ray Stedman as “Christ’s Commandos” active during the great tribulation. John McArthur describes them as “a missionary corps of redeemed Jews who are instrumental in the salvation of many Jews and Gentiles during the tribulation”.  The tribulation they are referring to is future and will last…

The Seven Stages of Grief

Posted on April 14, 2011 at 7:07pm 0 Comments

Even though they are called stages; they do not have to happen in this sequence and some can happen simultaneously.

1. SHOCK & DENIAL-

You will probably react to learning of the loss with numbed disbelief. You may deny the reality of the loss at some level, in order to avoid the pain. Shock provides emotional protection from being overwhelmed all at once. This may last for weeks.…

The Apocalypse of the Lamb, His Bride, and the Great Whore

Posted on April 10, 2011 at 5:00pm 8 Comments

The book of Revelation (the Apocalypse) presents a conundrum to most modern American Christians.  This is understandable because:

a)      It is a book filled with symbols that demand a thorough, even intimate knowledge of the Old Testament; particularly the priesthood, sacrificial and temple system, Jewish feasts, and prophetic writings. Most American Christians lack this intimacy.

b)      It is a book that was written during a time of…

Anxiety note --I had 2 months of beautiful recovery from my anxiety ,and depression, then a couple of weeks ago I had a small bout lasted about 2 hours- but I realized what it was and had a better control on it-I've been slightly fragile mainly in the mornings..…Also sometimes I think the I'm kinda dizzy or the floors moving for a split second .Is that symptons of anxiety?
I'm still my wifes care giver from her stroke , and she just had another seizure. Any prayers or advice would be very appreciated---as I do feel kinda down , but not like the black depression i did have
My son came to visit me from Seattle , and felt I was not too good , and mentioned I could have a nervous breakdown. I've been all checked out for my heart, and my cardiologist said I was stable. I just need convincing its only anxiety and nothing to worry about. I do take natural supplements now as well as excersise--- Thanks for any help, and God Bless Russ

Hi John, I am open to job opportunties for there may be something out there I am not aware of that I may fit well into.  My educational background is in the Biological Sciences, Laboratory & Research, lab tech bench work.  However, I have been out of the field since mid 90's would not mind getting back into the field but the area of of technology science is fast-paced, would someone open the door to get back in is more than likely not.  Initially, I started out as in junior accounting before the time of computers meaning ledgers, and ticker tape calculators.  I would love to go back to school to upgrade and enter accounting fully but my finances do not dictate that priviledge being single with a mortgage, thus, I would take part time evening courses to do so but need to be employed full time.  It would be good if someone took me into a workplace with additional duties of accounting.Delete Comment

For currently and since my days of being a lab tech I have worked doing office administration or office work which in some employment areas, as I was doing contract work for a while, had tasks of accounting duties in my admin work which I treasured. I have been working as an Executive Assistant, Project Administrator, Administrative Support, Coordinator Positions, Clerical, Reception, Secretarial.  I require full time work and no longer want to do contract work positions.  I am 52 and want to pay off my condo before retirement age thus need something consistence to budget and plan.  John, all things are possible and even though at an older age I am a quick learner, energetic, eager to learn new things.  Ideally a combo of Admin, with accounting duties in a company where sciences is the business industry to utilize all my skills.  The Cancer Research Boad for example had a position opened which I applied for and have not heard back though the start day was to be Monday, as it delayed I am hoping a and the chosen candidate would be a thankful surprise. Again, I am opened to all possibilities but need employment soon as I unemployment insurance runs out in about 3 months time. Thanks for asking John. Anything you can do for me being you ask?
